In and around the house

Tet, or Lunar New Year is around the corner -the year of the Ox. Let's hope it will
bring us better fortune. Everyone has a fresh calendar on the wall.
January 2021. Fuji X-H1 - XF 2.8/14.

So Dourbi, I see you have a pin stuck in Sydney. I don't know if that means you've already been here or you intend to come, but if it's the latter, make sure to look us up.

Good eye, pyeh! I have some family in Sydney, and my wife and I visited back in 2009. If we ever go back, we'll be sure to look you up. ;)

2009! That's an eon ago. Come again soon.
I think of San Francisco and Sydney as very similar towns, in feel and looks, and sort of in demographics as well.

That is indeed an eon ago. I agree that the two towns are very similar, but actually, my wife and I both thought that Melbourne felt a little bit more like San Francisco than Sydney.

My mother's basement. June 2008. Canon 40D - L 2.8/16-35. The shovel was used to shovel coal. Until the mid-60s houses depended on coal for heating. I remember the
zinc tub as an alternative to a swimming pool. My parents never threw anything away. Cheers, OtL

Using our living room as a makeshift studio, my son Jake and I set up a series of "product photos", something we had never done before. We made the poster using Affinity Photo.

Martha Sturdy - Pemberton Bowl
Gaetano Pesce - Amazonia Vase
Ettore Sottsass - Mediterraneo Pot (set of 7)
Michael Graves - Red Euclid Thermos
I made the orange end table/stool

My cat seems to get into everything. Sitting on the top of a desk in the study.

The Japanese have a concept that a house's vestibule should hint at what you will find inside. In Japan the entry vestibule is called a "Genkan" and represents the transition between outside and inside / public and private.
At some point, I thought I would try to turn my entry into a western form of a genkan with a few hints at some of the art found within the house. Nothing too elaborate or special but some subtle hints...............
