In the market for a quality dedicated 35mm scanner

+1 on the Plustek + Vuescan

Yep, small, easy, affordable, spare film holders available if required. It might not be the "best" but for my needs, up to 11x14 printing it's more than sufficient.
If you only do b&w, the 8100 is the same as the 8200 but without the dust removal I believe. I have the 8100.

Have you considered a Pakon 135+? It will scan an entire roll (uncut) in about seven minutes and produces excellent colour straight out of the scanner. They can be a little fiddly to set up, but there is a wonderful Facebook group who will help you every step of the way.

I have an older Minolta as well as a Pakon F135+. The Pakon gives great images with very little work, and scans a whole roll at a time, fast. The Minolta does up to 6 in one batch, and has better resolution. It takes me nearly an hour to scan a whole roll on the Minolta, and about 6ish minutes on the Pakon.

If I were looking for a higher quality scanner than the Pakon (~6mp files), I think at this point I would *strongly* favor a 1-2 generations old DSLR/mirrorless with a macro lens or slide copier. They are just so much faster and take less fiddling, with resolution and dynamic range that meet or exceed that recorded on the film.

+1 here. The Pakon is the single best investment I've ever made for my analog photography. It gets the colors right, it's way sharper than my Epson 600 and, best of all, it's FAST! Before I used to have a Proscan 2700. To scan raw films that I could fiddle with in Photoshop to attempt to get the right colors it took me about 3 hours per roll. With the Pakon the colors are perfect, no modifications necessary and it's all done in 5 minutes. Incredible! It really made me want to shoot film more, really.
