Leica LTM In the south of France with Leicas

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
I'm curious how often you found yourself using the Canon 100/3.5. I have that lens and it's a terrific optic, but I've found that a 50/35 or 50/28 combination covers nearly all my needs on a vacation trip. Interested in your experience.

Not often. I probably shot fewer than 10 frames with it. Nonetheless, I like having the option. The lens is small, light, and spectacularly good.

On a related note, this was the first major trip I did with the 50/28 combo, and I think it worked out pretty well. I'm still getting used to 28, but it's becoming more instinctive.

OK, here we go with the next batch. These are all centered around the beach and the Promenade des Anglais, the main boulevard that runs along it. It's sort of the center of activity in Nice, with hotels and restaurants all along, and the wonderful old town down at one end. Of course, it was also the site of the Bastille Day attack. The juxtaposition of the touristic and the tragic was jarring, but it seemed as though people were making an active effort to return to something approaching normality.

I have enough photos that fall into this group that I'm going to divide them up. I'm posting the color today, and the B&W will come tomorrow. Enjoy.

The first bunch of black and white photos actually makes me want to get out there again ... sporting the IIIa and a 50, of course. 🙂

Love that first one. The little bird makes it. I took many photographs on those steps two years ago until I had the one I wanted. No sun that day. Yours is a beauty. The old city is endlessly fascinating for a photographer.

Thanks again to all for the kind words. It's taken me far too long to update this thread, but life gets in the way sometimes. In any case, here's a few more, better late than never I hope. This time it's critters. As before, everything with screwmounts Leica and either the Summitar 50/2 or the Canon 28/2.8, HP5+ or Portra 400. Enjoy.

A truly memorable set of images.
Well done! BW can be so perfect, your color also.
Those screw Leica make such stunning images,
in the right hands and good eye.
Look forward to more 😀
