Incredible dig Leica nears completion

If he gets even half decent images from the finished camera,...and his track record appears to be 'tasty', then there will be big repercussions, the least of which will be the vast number of people offering him money to repeat the method on their Leica.

That was funny. Thank you 🙂

He must have scared Leica's development department - there are whispers of a monochrome very high definition Leica M now....😉. Btw, the sensor has cost him 1400$, which gives some insight in the reasons for the high price of large-sensor camera's.

I wonder- Leica and Kodak use offset photoreceptors and angled and optimized microlenses to overcome the problems caused by the oblique lightangle at the corners of the sensor, especially relevant for RF camera's. 1.33 crop seems to be the best they can do. I wonder how or even if he is going to clear that hurdle.

Well, I'd be very surprised if he has not already given it some thought.......judging by his past track record.......He seems to be the sort of bloke who has all his projects pretty well in his head before he starts something, and when he does it's usually a fast gallop to the finish!

If am not mistaken, the problem is to great extent caused by microlenses of Bayer filter and/or AA filter. Those aren't necessary in monochrome camera that he builds.

An update...

An update...

I know some were questioning if this would really fit into an M2 - take a look:

From the latest thread, it sounds like it fits better than he first thought. I really like his concept - no screen, minimal controls, push the hard stuff to RAW conversion and postprocessing.

Yowsa...this will be interesting, regardless of how I'm feeling about digital capture at any given moment.

And, if nothing else, it's resulted in a rare thing on PhotoNet: an entertaining thread.
