Indonesia in analogue

A small trail up to a hidden illegal gold mine. Many people die there in very poor mining conditions, especially during the rainy season. Lombok island, Indonesia.

Smoking crater of Bromo, Java island, Indonesia. Smells similar to a rotten-egg - many people are put off because of the poisonous fumes, but the view is fantastic if you're daring enough to climb the rim further up

Gifts for the Gods

...::: click to LISTEN the live Gamelan soundscape :::... from the site. Meditating Gamelan band is often voiced over by old hindu leader going trance by reciting stories from the holy Ramayana epic. With those sounds, volcanic hill surroundings, incence smoke and the whole vibe in the atmosphere they go into trance to communicate with their Gods during prayers.

@tsiklonaut, thank you, thank you, thank you.
I am from Indonesia and just came back from a brief trip to Indonesia that includes a couple of days in Bali. I think I see more of Bali from your pictures than during my trip. Really appreciate the reminder of things I miss that makes me want to come back again; maybe for a photo op next time.

Very nice with edges or without. May have to take mf on next trip. First time I have ever commented on posted photos.

Don't know what to say...just outstanding...I do like the borders, they add to the photos, they work like mats/frames. They also remind us that film lives on...as a fellow motorcyclist I admire what you had to go through in order to get there with all your equipment.
Plus all the post processing work you had to go through.
Thanks for the great gift, very much appreciated.

this is great stuff, but indonesia is amazing in its' diversity and regionalism, your indonesian pics show another side of Java that I been to (and also Bali too)

I would recommend Yogjakarta as a great cultural capital of Java island, among many others..

Margus, I am a big "flickr" fan of yours and have favorited almost all of your photos. I like the photos as they are, with the film borders as they give them a unique and original look. Keep posting.

Hello Margus, I've been looking at this thread for three days now and haven't posted anything yet :))
I guess what I'd like to say is, if you ever release a book, I will buy it!!
Please let me know if you are in Jakarta, I will take you film shopping and camera hunting.
P.S. offer also valid for other RFF members :)

Cheers!

I've been through Timor, Flores, Sumbawa, Lombok, Bali, Java & Sumatra islands on my different motorcycle trips. Loved Yogja as well, I was there quite some time. Hoping to visit Borneo, Sulawesi & New Guinea someday - those seem to be the most interesting for me now :)

Cheers Jonathan, Jakarta is an interesting place as well, very multicultural - loved the national museum. Maybe someday will be back!
