I do not get this geek speak and constant desire to upgrade to the latest gear.
At our favorite restaurant this weekend, the 5 year old daughter of one of the owner's came up to us with an IPad that she had drawn a picture of a butterfly. She was going to see the Doctor, and wanted us to make sure nothing happened to the Butterfly picture. She left it with us, was pretty easy to save it to disk. My one and only encounter with an IPad.

I passed on the original Ipad. It was still too thick and heavy. But, I'm tempted by this one.

I love my original iPad, not going to trade up until version 3!

Ten years from now, which will be worth more? An old ipad or a little bit older M2. Joe

Man, I'm just trying to get to tomorrow. I'm sure not worried about a decade from now!

They begged me to try the iPad. They deposited it in my studio. I tried and tried to like it. But I can do everything SO much faster and easier on my laptop, which is not that much bigger. If I traveled with an iPad, I'd have to bring my laptop along too. I just don't get it, these tablet things are selling like crazy.

I'm scared of clowns
M-body because as most pointed out, digital technology marches on and soon will be replaced. M-bodies, so long as film is available and technicians capable, should last a lot longer.

I recently traded an iPad for a Hasselblad kit, so there's my answer. I still have an iPad kicking around and other than client meetings and watching netflix while cooking dinner I haven't found too many uses for it yet*.
*other than trading them for cameras.

Same here, Brian, don't need the latest and greatest. But I will say this, the iPad is a phenomenal concept and a well-deserved success. The uses people are finding are astounding. I have a painter friend who lost her hearing late in life; she doesn't lip-read and is not very good at sign language. Not that there are many people in her daily surroundings who are, anyway, myself included.
So she was carrying notepads for people to write on, and kept a laptop at home just for typing one side of the conversation (she can speak very clearly). Carrying an iPad to write on has turned out to be much more convenient. Plus, it's a new medium she's discovering as an artist!
What do you "need" more?

I'm not upgrading. But it seems like its a good deal if you don't already have one. If iPad 3 has a retina display that would be worth an upgrade. And I'm keeping my M2 as well...

The iPad is a camera AND a computer.

Wait for the next one, which will have a "retina" display, like the iPhone 4. 4x the pixels of the current model in the same size screen. It is indistinguishable from paper.
FWIW, I like the old iPad pretty well. Great for photo viewing!

The iPad is interesting, but the 11" MacBook Air even more ...
But I can imagine if one needs to read a lot and write little on journeys that iPad may be very helpful. I would still like to see it to be able fold in halves - more than once

As a writer/translator, I just got myself a mechanical keyboard for 80€. Best money spent on computer periphericals for a long time. And I also prefer books you can forget/leave behind in a hotel room and definitely do not like Nespresso coffee machines.
Did I mention already I prefer Leica rangefinders?
