Olympus EE-1 red dot site. They can be useful for taking shots of planes and birds with a big lens. I use one on a Pentax Q when I am using a big telephoto on it. Makes tracking your subject much easier than trying to do it on the LCD.

Yes, a very useful tool when using long telephoto lenses and trying to follow moving objects. I bought mine (the Olympus version) for my E-M1, when I had one. I sold all the Olympus stuff, but kept the Dot Site and now use it on a Fujifilm with the 100-400mm Tele, where it works equally good.

Combine it with a Olympus Air01 and a really big lens, and try to get near any Airport... 😀

Good Comparison

Good Comparison

One thing that's interesting about this huge lens is that it illustrates the relative importance of the lens compared to the camera body and its image sensor. Sometimes when I tell people I have a Leica M9 camera with some excellent lenses, they'll ask me about the megapixels of the sensor. When I say it's a 18 meg sensor, they tell me that their little compact camera has more and imply that it's therefore a better camera. Worse is when they tell me their mobile phone is equal to my Leica equipment.

In Shawn's photo, it's undeniable by the average person that the lens is the primary component. I tell people that the quality of the lens is the most important part of a camera. Yes, the image sensor is a major part, but it doesn't have the most impact on the image results. Actually, the human (i.e., photographer) is the most important component. If you don't know where to point the camera and how to use your camera, the equipment is worthless.

Good point. That lens is a Nikon 500mm f4P and it draws beautifully. I don't use it often but it always amazes me when I do. I've used it on numerous cameras and it is always good.

On a Panasonic GF-1
