I've been asked weird questions about every camera I've ever owned.
With the Mamiya 645, people mostly ask me if it's a Hasselblad. Once, I replied, "No, it's a Mamiya," to which the person said, "Oh, I didn't know Mamiya made Hasselblads."
An 8x10 Deardorff on a big wooden tripod is especially perplexing to people, as most of them largely can't seem to grasp *how* it could be a camera in the first place. Everyone was very impressed, though, when I let them look at the ground glass under the cloth. That thing was a lot of fun.
