Thanks. I saw your other post too. I'll let you go shoot it some more - eager to hear what you think about this lens.

Tim.... here's a shot from yesterday - I was testing how this thing handles flare. This was shot without the lens hood just around 12:30pm yesterday - it's pretty clear where the sun is in this photo... I metered Old City Hall (the old clock tower there)
Take a look at the album (granted these are all "web sized" images *sigh*) on my Facebook page:

Interesting results, Dave.
I see there is no love for zooms by the folks on this thread?

I'm waiting for the X-Pro 2...my guess is that the XP1 is optimized for the three lenses at launch, and that Fuji would have to shoe-horn in other focal lengths (since external VFs make no sense here). My guess is that the XP2 will have some of the issues worked out, and a more mature system is generally better.
Is the consensus that Fuji is not going to go full-frame? Does anyone know if the current 3 primes Fuji is selling would work on a FF sensor, or is it similar to the Nikon DX/FX conundrum? If they were able to be used on a FF sensor, that would excite me; it would indicate that Fuji is at least hedging their bets on a larger sensor for their next offering.
Does a 23/2 lens for the XP system mean the X100 will go the way of the Dodo? I'm keeping my X100 until it dies. I love that camera.

No love here for zooms. I will never use one for non- paying work. They are too big and heavy.

I bought the Kipon and used it with my CV 15mm II and was not impressed with how the lens performed. In some conditions, focused near, it was really sharp, nice color, but get it out in the sun and focused at infinity and it was inconsistent at best. Decided to buy the Fuji 18 and 60, then cross the 14, 12-24, etc etc bridges when I come to them.
Initially I thought the 18 was pretty bad (and I think it was in pre-prod), but now I think it's looking pretty good.
Yeah there does seem to be some zoom-hate around here. Perhaps few have tried Nikon (mount) zooms...

Tim, not half bad - I posted a bunch on my facebook page - here's a shot using it at ISO 6400 - just to test the "high ISO" of the camera - with standard "0" noise reduction (fyi NR can be turned down two levels to "-2" if necessary):
Yeah, but does it go to "11"?
Thanks for posting your input, Dave. I just placed my order from Henry's and should have my setup shortly. I had been patiently waiting for my preorder from B&H, but I cancelled because the clock is ticking before I head out to the Southwest (primarily southern Utah) and I was concerned that orders will be delayed due to their Passover holiday closure.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to spending some time in the desert with my 4x5 and Mamiya 7 (loaded with Velvia, of course) and the X-Pro tagging along on its maiden voyage.![]()

Re: the Kipon adapters
I am hoping (praying maybe?) that the Fuji adapter will be a bit more "strict" with tolerances and that the M lenses will perform a bit differently (especially the "longer" lenses - 50mm lux & 90mm 'cron - both pre-ASPH)
Based on that one post from a few days ago - there was a guy who tested eight m-mount lenses but it was all "brick wall" shooting - most of the images are sharp in the centre and the non-Leica lenses looked "soft" on the corners.
Cheers,
Dave

i liked the 23/35 on the x100.
it doesn't really make any sense to get a pro-x...does it?
Actually if I liked RD1, I'd get the pro-x instead of the x100
IF they didn't drop a 35/2 lens from their line up (that's one of the most adlebrained decision that Fuji could make).

you're talking about replacing an rd1 for the fuji pro?
i'm thinking about using both.
actually, at this point i have thunk myself into complete inaction...

Might be a smart move in the short term. No need to rush if you have good equipment already.

This camera is tempting (not yet had one in my hands). I guess other interesting cameras will arrive around Photokina time. I have to say that I'm ...confused ! Stand by for me, now..

I suppose the 14mm will come with a separate optical hotshoe viewfinder?
...
Maybe, maybe not... they could just make you use the EVF.

Hmmm. OK, I have/had it in my mind that the 14mm would work with the optical VF... But, in searching around for info just now all I came up with was THIS post/tweet from Mark Goldstein @ CES Jan 9th during the Fuji Press Conference.
12.35 CET 14mm is the widesthttp://www.photographyblog.com/news/live_fujifilm_ces_press_conference/# lens currently planned, it will work with the optical viewfinder.
Nice work Luke... that's good to know. So, a 21mm equiv with optical VF. Only the CV r4a/m offers this otherwise.

I certainly hope it's accurate as I would prefer the 14 to the 18 assuming that it is equal to or better than the 18 in technical performance.
But, not at the cost of the OVF. I can live with it if the bright frame were basically at the edges of the OVF, even if some of the other info had to be moved inside the bright frame, and all that was lost was the greater than 100% field of view. Or, the bright frame went away for the 14 and we had basically a 100% viewfinder...

Didn't you read the other RFF thread? Image quality doesn't matter. If there was an interchangeable-lens digital Diana, that would be the camera to have. Ask Juan.
I'd buy a digital Diana in a heart beat!

So would I.
I did buy one of those little 25mm Holga lens for m4/3 cameras and it is really cool to play around with.

I found the local Henry's has one + 35mm in stock. I'm seriously considering picking it up. I wish, however, a 35mm equivalent lens was already available. A 21, 35 and 50 and I'm good to go.
