Is there love here for the the 2.5cm f4 lens?
I have a full kit, in beautiful black paint.
I'm shocked at how low they now sell for, looking at sold prices on ebay.
And humored at the claims that the sellers make, for oily blades. Oil on the blades is near-fatal on this lens.
But, more important, are there passionate users of this lens, who love it for its image-taking quality? And its compactness?
It is a bit of a shame that I can't use it on my Leica M9 (can't focus).

Well-known
They vignette a lot, even when stopped down. The vignetting usually looks OK in BW, but can't always be corrected in color (tonal shifts, esp. in skies, when you try to reduce such strong vignetting).
I wonder what you meant by low prices? They seem to run $900-1500. I can't remember what I paid for mine. Were they previously lots higher?

Yeah, back in the heyday, they were fetching $2500. That was in 2005 or so.
Or maybe I just overpaid
That was then, and this is now.

I like the Nikkor 25f4 - for black and white it gives you a nice "edge" burned look. Center sharpness is very good and the minute size of the lens makes it easy to take along on a sep. body with a 50mm on a second body. I have occasionally used it on the SP and the 28 in-camera finder and just adding a bit of area "mentally". The f-stops does take a bit to get used to though - and you dont "whip" the aperure - just some careful movement.

So, I said "goodbye" to my 2.5cm f4 kit. Let's see if I regret it.
