thought id ask for some opinions. how does $625 sound for a Leica CL with the 40mm summicron. havent seen any pictures yet, but the body is from the last batch and works perfectly, with little wear on the base. The lens is supposed to be in excellent condition. i know it sounds like i could just get a R2 with a new CV lens for that price, but thats why im asking. It will be my first rangefinder.

If it's excellent plus or better with no dents or spots worn through the anodization and has been lubed at least once then that's not too bad. Especially if you have a return period. I'd expect the rubber hood too at that price.
Oh that's another thing the CL has against it- the summicron version uses a non-standard 39 mm thread, but that's not really a huge deal.

If you get a CL body, and want to use a 35mm lens on it, be aware the frame lines are for 40mm but the overall field of view is about 28mm, so the 35 works fine, you just have to get used to framing using the outside edge of the 40 frame line. It's like a 40 with safety margins.

If the shutter speeds are accurate, that is good deal. CL bodies run 400 to 550 depending on condition/function ; and summicrons 250 to 350 dep on condition. Summicron-c (made in germany) are more expensive than the equally capable rokkor-Ms (due to collectors).

So if your seller is reliable, that is a good price.

just wanted to update this thread. i turned down the deal for the CL with the 40 for $625, because i found a bessa r2 w/ a 35 for $300. then, i turned that down, because i found a CL w/ the 40 summicron for $350. i think i made the right choice.
