I have an issue with the Canon 9000f mk 2 scanner for negatives. I got an Epson V550 for Christmas butwas getting intermittent "faults" of communication. Scanned a few negatives, returned it and got the Canon9000fmk2. My problem is that the Canon has "streaks" along the axis of the scan for 120 roll film. Am I doing something simple and incorrect OR do I have another scanner that really does not work for me. FYI, I can sometimes get a streak free image with the Canon.

I don't know thatscanner in particular, but I've seen such things on my Epsons. It usually comes from something going on in the calibration area. At the 'top' of the film holder is a notch and sometimes little openings. The scanner uses this area to establish certain values, determine film (holder) type, etc.

For example, I would sometimes let film project into this area, and the scans would have streaks, weird values, etc. I've also heard of people getting small line and streaks if there is dirt in this area.

Well, just something to check.
