The other day I saw a picture of another of Joe's wrist straps and something snapped inside me. I've been making my own neck straps out of scrap leather straps that I get from a friend of mine that's a leather worker. I like the thinner straps. A friend of mine turned me on to the thin leather straps. He shot a M3 and couldn't see using straps bigger than the camera. The problem I had was finding a strong enough twine for the serving. I finally found some and it arrived today. It's a waxed (bee's wax) linen twine and now I finally have a wrist strap for the FED 2. I need to make some more. I hope I have enough twine.

I know that type of twine. I used it to make my own dufflebag from sailcloth back then.
And again I think about making my ultimate camera bag :)

very nice gordon!
i'll be curious to hear how you like them in action. i prefer to use a small bag, that way if i need my hand for anything i can slip the camera quickly into the bag.

now you just need a colour matching skin on the camera...

Joe -- I generally have been wrapping my neck strap around my wrist and I like using it that way. This just means not nearly so much strap to stuff in the bag. At some time in the future the camera will go to Oleg and when it returns it will get some nice leather on the body. Right now I'm thinking some Indian Red goat skin from Camera Leather. A red FED seems right.

Gordon - that looks very nice (very classic) , bet you , you could sell them as well if you wanted to.

Cheers,

It's worked out real well. There is no going back. I need to make more. I even made a wrist strap for the flash/grip angle bracket on my Meopta Flexaret TLR.

A 'small' problem that can now be fixed by Enzyte, natural enhancement ~ ; - )
