I've just done a bad thing...

I finally caved in, tried to wait out the bad weather i've had in the UK over the past few days, but i started shooting random crap in my house instead 🙂

So i found the cat!

JPEG from the camera, i like the rendering on the lens, the grain, is more than i was expecting but isn't awful.

ISO 640 1/80th f/1.4

Missed the focus slightly, but the in-camera B&W isn't bad!

You're going to love it!!

The cat is the universal test subject. So good choice there.

The review screen resolution of M8 and M9 (maybe ME and MM) is not high like a lot of other digital cameras. When you review your shots, it won't be anywhere near as sharp as the image actually is on the card. You get used to it. I think the thinking is we Leica types are so used to the film M experience, that the review screen is mostly just a bonus convenience to check and make sure we got the exposure pretty good and the composition was what we wanted. But checking for details and sharpness, happens later. BTW, I don't know what the LCD screen resolution is with the M240, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was low, just like its predecessors. Someone here knows 🙂

Anyway, both the camera and lens that you now own are great, fun, capable tools. Let's see how creative you can get with that cat..🙂

SimonUK,

I remember buying my first Leica and feeling just like you about how much of my hard-earned dosh I was hanging around my neck.

If you haven't already done so, get some good photographic insurance... and enjoy!
