Just wondering if anyone would know what size screw-on lens hood would fit my black Jupiter 8 lens. The plastic one that came with it keeps popping off. And if anyone knows ebay sellers selling them. Thanks

Do I need a vented hood with the 50mm?

Does a J-3 take the same size hood also?

A J-3 will vignette more easily than a j8, it needs a bigger wide angle hood.

Noel you surprise me. Although I don't own a J-3. the vented 40.5mm looks to me as a wide angle for a J-8, and for this I am very unsatisfied with mine.

It was a warning the J3 is a different lens, you have to try it to be sure. And yes the j8 needs a tight hood.

While I can't say I've done any rigorous testing of this issue, I have used that hood on my J3 and have not noticed any vignetting problems. It's a very wide, flat hood. Actually, it looks more like a large step-up adapter rather than a hood and, as such, I would be surprised if it did cause vignetting. The other reason I like this particular hood is that it helps keep the whole setup nice and small. The J3 is a small lens to begin with and this hood helps in that regard. I've used the larger hood on a J8 and felt that it added a lot of extra bulk which I didn't like. Hope you're happy with the small, wide-angle one when you get it.
Best,
Randy
