Actually 40.5 like the Jupiter 3, 8 & 11. Filters are reasonable to come by, hoods aren't. But I've honestly never really missed having one for my J12 - that recessed front element does help.
William and Joseph are both right. I don't use a hood except when I'm using a filter. And since I generally shoot B&W film, I also usually have a yellow filter on the lens. So I bought a "40.5mm Wide" hood from Heavystar(on ebay). Very happy with both the hood--it's metal and nicely made-- and the price and service! And the hood(or filter) makes changing the aperture a little easier since you get a bit more to grab hold of.

Here's the wide-angle hood from HeavyStar. As stated, though the lens is probably deep enough, I have one of these I keep on the Jupiter.12 as an aperture adjuster without filters and as a hood with filters. 😉 Though the pic in the item description isn't much, it is a pretty nice S&W hood. IMO worth a ten-spot.
Thanks for that link. While my J12 doesn't really need it, I've found that the rubber hood I've been using on my J3 vignettes a bit. I'm going to try this one to see if it does better.
Thanks, guys. I have three 40.5 filters and I have a slip on hood for my J8 but I think I will get one of the WA hoods for the J12 and a regular vented hood for my J8
