I'm not sure you could make a high speed shutter out of magnesium alloy. Great for the framework of the camera, not so great for a shutter.

It sounds to me pretty much like a 20/1.7 did when Panasonic announced that. The April Fool's theory is silly--why would this guy make everyone hate him? He's testing a new crop sensor mirrorless camera...maybe even one with a rangefinder on it.

But, could this be the resurrected Epson, an R-D2 under the Canon name? I heard Epson wouldn't be likely to try that game again, but Canon has the technology and they have put their name on a Cosina-made camera before...

What is neat, especially about m4/3s, is the rapid pace of neat new cameras. I can't afford the GF-1 or even the EPL-1 now, but by Christmas, we'll have more choices, driving the prices ever lower.

I still have a DSLR and a Sony P&S digital, and the CL, QL17 and Yashica GSN. I can wait, even though I don't want to.

How can Canon thread the needle with a new camera that lures potential M9 buyers without cannibalizing 5DII sales? That brainteaser makes it hard to imagine Canon or Nikon getting into RF's. Sony might have more incentive, since anyone who could release a smaller-than-DSLR-body FF digital with AF at 3k-ish would be really well positioned.

Rumors are RFF's cocaine. It makes everyone really excited and talkative.
