I knew from the moment I saw that article that J.Ascough was only setting up the story for April fool day.

It's too obvious. It's mind boggling why people didn't catch that. Even more mind boggling that some people are offended by it.

Ascough will never live it down. That little joke completely destroyed his professional credibility as a source of reliable photography information.

I don't see how it destroyed anything. The only reason people are bothered is because they were suck into the joke. If it had been about a new Canon or Nikon DSLR most here would be laughing at the DSLR gearheads lust for the latest thing.
