That John Free bloke has started insulting rangefinders!
I'll have to unsubscribe :p
Apparently any Japanese camera made in the past 40 years is fine and the lenses far superior to anything you will find from Europe. Also rangefinders are toys with no focus!
OH MY GOD :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::eek::eek::eek::eek::bang::bang::bang:

Have I provoked a gang war yet?

Who is John Free and why would anyone care what his opinion is anyway?
Some bloke on youtube who wants to advertise the fact that all photo schools are rubbish except for his own...
He actually has some decent things to say sometimes, but he has these unfounded attacks such as this one, on occasion. Which is why we probably shouldn't care about his opinion...
Until he says something we wanted to hear, which is when we start worshiping him on this site.

Oh, I see. Well, if that's complicated, driving a 6-speed manual transmission V-8 is quite a lot of gargantuan work: how do you determine if shifting down from 4th to 2nd downhill can't be better than shifting up from 3rd to 4th uphill? No, wait, 3rd to 2nd uphill, too. But downhill you shift down to 2nd if you want to be easy on the breaks. But the breaks are there for stopping the car. But how do you determine if you want to stop partially or completely? Maybe you need to shift from 1st to 5th in order to gain speed? Wait, you need to shift to 2nd, then 3rd, then 4th. But what if you're not going that fast?

Obviously a manual transmission's fatal design flaw is that you have to *think*

It's all sooooooooooo complicated!

Well, if he advises everyone to buy 5cm F1.5 Sonnars and use them wide-open and close-up because the Bokeh is so nice, we'll point him to Roger's thread on Bokeh.

Of course, he will need to use a rangefinder for the Sonnar.

I'm watching his other videos - he's an interesting dude. He shows some prints in the other videos and they're very good pictures.

I'd agree he seems very set on his ways, but I think the general gist of what he's preaching is honest and true...

Well, not having watched the video yet.
But I assume that for most of us, rangefinders are toys, aren't they?

Cheers,
Uwe

Hey ... Roger insults DSLR's at every opportunity, and if the opportunity isn't there he'll create it! :D

Do we DSLR owners get our knickers in a twist?

Never!

Seems like a case for psychiatry if you ask me. A poor lonely sod, the only way he can get attention is to wind people up, dont take the bait folks and just ignore him.
