Some time ago I got in contact with Interslice (Jon Goodman from Texas) when I needed a light seals kit for my camera; few days ago I sent an email message to his address btu no reply so far. Does anybody know about him?

Jon Goodman used to sell some foam kits of the brand SEKISUI at some point. Are his kits still made with that foam brand ?

I have found out, that this peculiar brand foam will disintegrate into black goo sooner or later. On the other hand, the similar foam sheets of the brand NITTO sold by Aki Asahi from Japan hold very well over time (same storage condition, bought at the same time around 2005).

@Mauro : the best solution to fix a camera in need of new light seals is to buy a new mousepad off your local computer store, then cut some 2 mm square strips off its black foam backside with a blade. For most cameras you don't even have to use some glue, the new strips will hold in place by themselves in the camera back grooves. In case you need to glue them (or to glue a mirror damper sheet which you will custom cut shorter, thicker and wider, of course), a bit of casual houseware neoprene glue will do it. With one mousepad you can approx. fix a dozen of cameras. Auguri ! ;)

The foam seals I got from Jon a few years ago also eventually turned to black goo. Aki Asahi sells some good foam in various thicknesses that you can use to cut your own seals.

Interesting Highway 61 and Peter - I've had the foam seals from Jon in some of my cameras for hyears - no goo. But I'll have to pay closer attention.
Jon's a nice guy - very helpful.

Last thing I saw from Jon was on the Yahoo Camera Repair Group page a couple months ago when they were talking about porting it to another provider, and he stated he was no longer selling seal kits or doing repairs, but was interested in keeping up with the Group.

I agree, a great guy to deal with. Can't say I've noticed problems with his seals. I also bought a Vostok (Boctok) Komandirskie watch from him that's been very reliable.

Much to my surprise, I found out he's the second cousin of a work colleague.

He did not reèply to my latest messages, so I wonder what has happened.
He is a friendly guy indeed, and I do hope he is well and safe

Buongiorno Mauro! I am still here...still alive and except for being older, I am ok. Please tell your father and sister I said hello. If you send an email message and you do not get a reply, my 2 email addresses are: jgood21967@aol.com and jon_goodman@yahoo.com If a message goes into spam, I may not see it.

The foam I used to sell was not made by Sekisui. They only made the adhesive, and I still use some of their adhesive products. The foam was made by another company. I will not mention their name, but I will tell you the formula they used for the foam was not what I wanted and it did deteriorate. My experience was it lasted for 10 to 12 years at the most. Today I have all foam made for me in the USA and that way I can control what formula is used. I am still making / selling the seal kits. It is all word of mouth, but if you need anything please contact me via email and I'll be happy to help. I am no longer doing any camera repairs. I hope everyone here is ok.
