June 30th, 2007: "Shoot all day!"

Why not do it on the equinox? Equal amount of day and night all over the globe. Saturday 24 March looks good.
Well, I was thinking along the same lines, but for June 23th, 2007. It's even closer to the Summer Solstice (by a few days).

The longest day of the year (in sunlight terms), with optimal light, and those few before and after are not a bad idea.

As said before, that's only on the Northern Hemisphere. On the other half of the globe, this is the shortest day of the year.

Better option would be March 24/25, 2007 (vernal Equinox) when there will be an equal spread of daylight all over the world. Much better!

I didn't even know about this effort when I proposed my 24 hour project. I am not trying to conflict with the efforts of others.

I don't see why these 2 days would conflict. I like your idea as well. If you can pull off such a day in November, well I'm in!

I'd be interested in something in March. I think it would be a fun project, and really give some of us an excuse to remove ourselves from usual obligations and get out and have fun.

Okay, count me in for the March weekend. Just send us reminders as March is just a wee bit away and we all might get back into our daily routines and forget about this wonderful project.

Love the exhibit and website idea. I think the book idea is also a good one.

Who else is in for this?

I'm interested, and may be in. FWIW, the week previous is normally March break week for schools in Ontario, which is Old Man Winter's que for a late snowstorm, just as families are travelling to Florida, Myrtle Beach, etc! 😀 That shouldn't necessarily stop anyone from participating, but the snowfall in southern Ontario and western NY could be significant, making it interesting.

My birthday is 5 days later, so if there's a family celebration planned Saturday night, I'll have to factor that in ... don't want to be hung over! :bang:

I'll keep a list of "ins".

People can "sign" up in this thread, and I'll keep the fire alive.

Is there anyone who has any experience with contacting exhibition places and getting an exhibition on the road?

Sofar there are 8 count-me-ins, or at least remind-me's 🙂

Remy: Since I'm just a few minutes away from George Eastman House and am a member, I will see what I can find out regarding exhibiting. I have no clue what their requirements are for mounting and exhibit, funding it, etc. But they are obviously expert at mounting exhibits and getting them on the circuit.

I'm up for it.

If March is what we're now aiming for, would it be a good idea to edit the thread title to reflect the new date?

Ian

I'm in but remind me. An idea is "A Day in The Life Of" and let each person choose thier perfect day. Take pictures that are reminisent of your day or something like that.

Trius, that's acool idea. I hope someone there can help us. I don't think we'll have an exhibition at the GEH, though. A local coffee corner would do. 🙂

iml, I guess starting a new thread is better.

Jody, if you ask me the theme should be shoot-all-day-at-the-equinox but if anyone needs/wants/sets him/herself an additional theme, I'm not going to stop them. 🙂 I myself am thinking of doing a kind of time laps series.
