She needs to try it with an CL AF lens rather than your manual focus lenses to get the full effect. Using manual focus lenses will drive her to the Q.
PTP,
Don't tell "Maggie" but I think if I bring my CL to the Leica Store when Maggie goes to check out the "Q" I likely will get the opportunity to check out the 23 Cron (35mm FOV) and possibly have my dumbed down CL rigged with a small lightweight AF lens.
Good thing back when I was a performance artist. Hopefully it all goes smoothly. LOL.
The way I set up my CL is that I turned off a lot of the features and made it like a true "Digital Barnack." The CL has only 3 buttons, two knobs, and a shutter release.
I'll avoid the 35 Lux-TL (50mm FOV) because it is large. Also I have the 50 Lux-SL (wonderful rendering, especially at F1.4).

I'm a Drama Queen. Part of my style is being a performer. "Entertainment Value," I say.
Today "Maggie" is on another shoot. Her friend Sophia somehow got lent clothes from this legendary Japanese designer who never lends out clothes.
Pretty much Sophia and Maggie will be modeling the clothes together.
BTW a lot of Maggie's work is performative, so we are talking about two "Diva's."

Next week I will be doing "Doctor's Hours" with a director/curator on a one-on-one about my work.
Separately I will have "Doctor's Hours" with an archivat/curator about my work.
So even though I got rejected for an En Foco Fellowship, I am getting the smut on inside opportunities. I really appreciate all the support, and I feel part of a community.
Last night I fully developed the design of my modular book page. I feel really confident that I can do what Christian suggests and create a very thick and heavy "Monster Workbook" that is crazy.
Expect a spine over 3 inches thick and a weight over 60-70 pounds. I have no doubt that my design will prove durable. I figured out how to use linen tape as my hinge to bind the 17x22 sheet (12x18 image size) to a robust spine that is not bulky and remains thin.
The assembly of a page is tedious, but the result is stong, professional, and archival.
This book I dedicate to my friend John who is widely know for using books as a tool and container for his work. Much inspiration was derived from him.

PTP,
In one year I loaded up the truck and bought $10K worth of paper and ink to create a stockpile.
I have hundreds of pounds of prints. I even have a "shipping container" that measures 40x50 and holds about 80 pounds of prints. I tend to print "exhibition size" and for me that is 20x30 on 24x36. The 12x18 image size on 17x22 sheet is my "hand hold" size that I use for proofing.
I took this Shipping Container on the subway along with other boxes of prints, along with a laptop to give a "Printing Symposium" at ICP during rush hour using a hand truck. What a mistake took a cab home. I learned that the weight of prints add up fast and they are heavier than you think.
A roll of 24 inch paper 50 feet long only makes me 15 prints. What is really scary is that on my 7800 the carts are about 350 ml and about every two weeks when I run that printer (currently in storage mode loaded with Piezoflush) I have to refill the carts because they are half empty. Piezography lays down a lot of ink; it costs about half of OEM inks; but I say you lay down about twice the amount of ink. The tone has to come from somewhere.
What would you expect 100 17x22's to weigh? That's 4 boxes of paper, plus a fifth box I consumed to make the spines, plus the covers and other materials. My papers are about 320 GSM, not really heavy-heavy papers, but not too light either. My archival boxes of prints certainly are heavy. My studio is a bit like a warehouse.
Funny thing is where am I going to hide this gigantic book when I finish building it? LOL.

Shipping weight on four 25 sheet boxes of 17x22 Canson Baryta Photographique (310g) is 22.6 lbs, and that includes the boxes and packaging. Is the other 50 lbs ink? Seriously, 60-70 lbs for a book 3" thick? I had no idea. What would you expect 100 17x22's to weigh? PTP,
Thanks for the numbers. When I buy two boxes of Canson 17x22 from B&H they appear and feel a lot heavier than 11 pounds. I have carried four boxes on the subway and it does not seem like only 22.6 pounds.
An archival box that is about 1 1/2 inches thick holds my estimate about 100 prints is heavier than 22.6 pounds.
I don't know how to resolve this disparity. Something is off. Likely me.
I have no idea either to explain. The Canson Duo I think is only 190 GSM and I fold it in two to make a spine 1 1/2 inches by 17 inches folded. The stack of folded spines I have bundled using two sets of 1 3/4 binding posts is not full, but I expect with the covers it might be full capacity. This is using 120 spines for 120 pages.
Not sure how this will all settle out but I'm pretty confident that this book will be deemed heavy and large.

^^Exactly: just weighed one 25 sht. box at 5 lbs. 10 oz. So 100 shts = 20 lbs. 40 oz.

BOOK UPDATE: Added another 25 pages last night, and now have about 30 pages that measure about 7/16" in a stack.
The ugly is that the hinged side with the linen tape has a thickness of 7/8 of an inch, so there is this "wedge" effect that is like a loose leaf binder. My doubled folded Canson Duo is overkill and adds to this wedge effect.
The good is that my linen tape hinge is very strong and flexible. The pages pivot on the hinge and want to lay flat.
The bad is that on smaller books I would only use a single layer of Canson Duo for the spine, but for the bigger book I deem the overkill a good thing.
Already this pile of pages without covers is becoming a unique object that has value added due to character. Not really cost feasible to sell because of all the hand work. Pretty much will be a one off.
If I ever market my work as a limited editions via books I would have to sell at a huge premium. Not practical or a a good business model.
The real benefit here is to create an archive, organize the mess I created, and get ready to make my limited editions. Note that on the reverse of all these prints that I would call proofs are file numbers, settings and useful reference data marked with pencil.

Tonight after work some magazine launch party in Chelsea.
Friday Leica Store SoHo because "Maggie" wants a Leica "Q."
Next Wednesday an appointment for "Doctor's Hours" with a director/curator to discuss my artistic development. Pretty much will spend mucho time assembling pages.
Christian has been a support with my bookmaking project. Some of his suggestions are using blank pages to organize sections; also exploit the modular design to group images.
I can see how I might decide to create a sewn limited edition sets of prints after some editing. Books are a great way to assemble folios for my work.

The magazine launch was for "Masthead." Open bar, loud music, and literally wallpapered photography from a production company that evolved into a zine.
My workbook is a work in progress, and the latest development is I want to intergrate a clam-shell case as a cover, and perhaps a handle salvaged from an electronic piece of equipment or guitar amp mounted along my spine so I can carry the book around like a elongated briefcase.
The top clam-shell cover would recess the back cover that would be flat. The design would display an offset to the front and rear hinges.
This design also replaces the archival boxes I buy that are rather costly (about $100.00). I can see this design carrying over into limited edition folios/colections that I think will result from this workbook and future editing.
So an unintended consequence is this project is moving my work forward. I am basically making self contained displays of my work that exhibit a love and passion. Perhaps not cost effective to sell, but after all these decades of just being a guy with a ponytail I'm alright with that.
MAGGIE CAMERA UPDATE: I'm a really good salesman and a good fisherman. Last night I set the hook and offered my CL to Maggie, pitching it as being smaller than a "Q" and secondly as being a stripped down less complicated camera.
I unmounted the 50 Lux-R and left the stack of Leica L-M and Novaflex F-M adapters mounted to the body to replicate the size and weight of a 23 Cron-TL (35mm FOV) autofocus lens.
I repeated, "Look how small and light this camera is," like I once said in the Leica Store in SoHo once before, but this time I was engaged and not disregarded. LOL.
So now I say you should check out the "Q" and then you will see that the "Q" has a lot more features and is a more complicated camera. I indicated that there are only three buttons, two knobs, and the shutter release.
I mentioned the head and shoulder portraits I did of Bob that she loves, and that for 28mm FOV and 50mm FOV it is a matter of taking a step back or a step forward when shooting a 35mm FOV.
Someone get the gaff. LOL. So now we are going Saturday so we have mucho time to make this decision. All she needs is to buy the 23 Cron-TL which she will use without the Leica grip I bought for use with my SLR glass. I say about near the same weight as her small version I-phone.
This will come in handy because later in June she will be heading to California, then to Vancouver, then to Italy hopping cities alone without me without intermediate stops coming home. Also is a trip to D.C. for a few days.

Chris,
What does your wife think? LOL.
I can tell you this: Saturday I'll find out if it is the Q or the CL.
BTW the trip to Italy was canned. The client cheaped out on the accommodations and the flight.
I read an article about regrets. Seem like mistakes in time get forgotten in the short term, but because of fulfillment issues linked to identity the enduring regrets that haunt older people are in the realm of the chances and risks that were not taken.
In my case I do feel fulfilled, even if it appears to be in a foolish manner. For over 4 decades I have been deeply involved in the arts; first as a painter; then a performer; next as a writer; and over the last decade as a photographer.
So many times I have gotten close to breaking out and making it big, but I understand this is the motivation for my struggles. If I die tomorrow I can say I have had an incredible life with a deeper meaning that does not have much remorse.
I can honestly say my deepest regret is having been a cigarette smoker for 17 years of my life. This is the one thing I wish I never did. Whatever happens, if I catch a break, I already know the level of reckless behavior and aggressive risk taking is the deeper meaning of my life.
I find it rewarding that I have so few regrets.
