Just want to hear peoples comments/reviews on the Jupiter 11. Thanks.

I have a Jupiter 11 in Kiev mount. Works quite well. See the duck shot in my gallery for a recent example.

You've got some really nice shots in your gallery Peter. I'm thinking of getting one for portraits.

You might want to consider the Jupiter 9 (85mm) for portrait work.w3rk5 said:I'm thinking of getting one for portraits.

I have an early 60's J-11 in LTM that sees a lot of use with my bessa-r. The refrigerator photos in my gallery were taken with that lens. I like it a lot.

I like the "New Orleans, Biloxi" shot. I think it's neat.
I have considered the Jupiter 9. But I think I have a better chance at getting a J-11 at a good price. The only thing that really "throws me off" the J-11 is the length. It just looks weird to me.

It's a pretty strange looking lens. But then it's about the same as a Hektor 135.w3rk5 said:The only thing that really "throws me off" the J-11 is the length. It just looks weird to me.
Are you looking for an LTM mount lens?

Werks,
Thanks. I'm pretty new to photography, and my shooting time has been limited for the last year or so. Are you refering to the bridge shots? Biloxi after Katrina was something to see -- real wrath of God stuff.
You won't regret a J-11 or a J-9. The 11 is a little long, and it does look slightly odd on the bessa. The J-11 is slower than the 9 -- f4 vs f2. I've heard that the 11 is much simpler than the 9, so it's easier to find a good example.

I like my J-11; the optics are pretty good on it even wide open. It is long but it is a great travel lens as it's so light.

Peter..........I'm looking for either a LTM or Kiev mount. It doesn't matter since I have FED's and a Kiev. Maybe I'll should just wait for a J-9 with a good "buy it now" price.
Bill........I was reffering to the bridge shots. I hope you don't take it the wrong way when I said it was "neat". Katrina wasdeadly and nothing "neat" about it. I'm fortunate to have never faced anything serious like that. The power of mother nature is CrAzY.
Thank you for everyones input so far.

I have both the J9 and J11 in Kiev mount. If you want to try them out, let me know ... I'm just up the road in Aurora.w3rk5 said:Peter..........I'm looking for either a LTM or Kiev mount.

No offence taken; I know exactly what you meant. I've seen a lot of weird, crazy, and disturbing things since I got back to NO last September, but those highway bridges in Biloxi were really in a class by themselves. Makes you appreciate the power of moving water

Thank you Peter for the kind offer. I think I will wait for a J-9. I've got time on my side.

Here are a couple with my Kiev mount J9

since I have both (J9 & J11) I can say that I prefer the J9. The J11 has probably the best resolution of all FSU RF lenses but doesn't look good on any camera I've tested it on (but the look isn't all
). It's simpler but not that much, the J9 is one of my fav. lenses but you've got to be lucky to get a good example. I had "luck" (got a J9 from moscow in mint condition for 80$ - wasn't cheap but paid off) focus was stiff but figuered out how to disassamble it (don't do it or take shots of the lens while you're disassabling it).

My mind is made up now. I want a J-9. Thank you again everyone for the responses.
