Hi everybody,

I tried to mount my Jupiter 12 on the R3A and besides what I´ve read it seems to fit rather well. Only the top and bottom sides of the rear element touch the camera and seem to be far enough from the shutter curtains, altough the meter won´t work.

Should I make some shoots or do you think I´m wrong and the curtains will hit the lens?

Thanks!

If I recall my J-12 mounted fine in my R2a but it covered the meter sensor some so I had to work with the lens metering manually. I'm not sure if this would be the case with your camera.

With my J-12 on a Bessa R, it was fine at close focus, but when focussing to infinity the rear element hit the shutter when moving inwards. I think it hit the shutter at about 8-10 m. I wouldn't have wanted to release the shutter then. However the difference to infinity was within DOF, so it was possible to shoot.

Metering was impossible, the meter cell gets blocked.

All in all it's probably a better idea to get a different 35; CV 35/2.5s are nice lenses, available for comparatively cheap money, just as compact, and play nicely with all LTM bodies.

Rsmd, you are probably correct. It might have been my Leica that the meter was blocked but the lens worked and my Bessa would have been damage to the lens or camera or both. I'm not home to try it, but like Bill said why chance it.

Hey, you´re right! When I put the Jupiter it was at minimum focus so it seemed right, I didn´t think to check it at infinity. It "might" work but I won´t risk now that I know this, no way.

Thanks everybody 🙂

Yah, you'd possibly ruin your shutter AND the rear element. It's good to have as a PSA reminder once in a while, though.
