I have a jupiter 8 50mm/f2 lens that came with a camera I purchased on ebay. The lens performs okay, takes good pictures and all (or rather, the bad pictures aren't the fault of the lens). I can see oil on the apperature leaves, and some crud on the inside of the rear element. I'm wondering is it worth having it cla'd. These lenses seem to go for about $30 on ebay, $60 at fedka. It's not my main lens, but I do exercise it from time to time. What do people do with these lenses when they need some maintenance?

Oil on blades is not bad for RF lenses, unless it ends up on the glass; so.. avoid to shake it, drop it, put it in a hot environment and it'll probably work fine for other 40 years or so..

I did mine, following Kim's website guide. As long as you've got a space, time and work methodically it's pretty easy to do. Only thing resembling a special tool would be the tiniest of tiny (1.0mm) flat-bladed screwdriver. Focusses smoother than a smooth thing now, and no dust inside. 🙂

Hey guys, i just bought a J8 and the aperture ring is off. I tried to adjust the ring, but the middle screw is stripped or something and will not come out... any suggestions?
