Jupiter 8 , Industar 61 , FSU fever?

So you can say a I-61 panda lens is better than the L/D I-61?

I am bit confused... 😀 What are the pros and cons of each?

(i have one L/D doing the trip from Ukraine to Portugal)

I just pointed out that the lens I have is a "Panda" type. I am not sure if there is any difference between the plain I-61 and the L/D except for the finish and markings. My impression is that the I-61 is too contrasty for my taste compared to a J-8. Your best bet is to get one of each and try 'em to see which you like best.

Hi Greg,
I believe the L/D version has a Lanthium element and was supposed to be an improvement on the I61.

I've both the "panda" & its L/D brother.
Whether wide-open or stopped down, I can't really see any significant difference in the results, both seem just as good.
"Panda" looks prettier with its chrome trimmings though.

One of my colleagues, who's czech and quite older than me (our cinema engineer, he's been doing the cinema school with Jan Pazdera, a notorious seller of used film cameras in Prague) got a phone call from Jan Pazdera telling him he had a nice Z4... and has been buying a Zorki-4 with a black J-8 50/2 ... and man.. the camera body was nothing special... but the lens.... ooooh turning so smoothly and looking so sexy... I felt like if I was listening one of those sexy Led Zeppelin songs and making love.... whoooooooah!!! gosh.. *faints* I dream and think of this black J-8 most of the time when I'm not thinking of my beloved lovely little woman!

Shame on me!!!!

the jupiter 8 that came on my Z4 seems to be very good. It is the later black version, and seems to give nice sharp results with beautyfull bokeh 🙂

At least that's what I have seen at my first two rolls 😀
