Jupiter 8 which one?

Thanks for the advice I found a J-8 from another RFF member it had been sent to Brian Sweeney for CLA, I did'nt even ask what model it was hope it's a good one. I also got a great deal from a USA seller on ebay for a I-22 and a J-12. Now I have a few to try on my new Epson D1.

Regards,

Tim

Be very careful with the I22 and J12. The J12 isn't compatible with non-FSU bodies due to the very large rear element. Anything colapsible will also likely hit the shutter.

OK thanks for the advice. The J-12 is aready being used on the Epson's so I know that one will work. Epson says not to extend more then 20.5mm back into the body so I'll check the I-22 with my calipers and put an o-ring on the shaft to keep if from collapsing all the way if need be.

Regards,

Tim

I thought it was the J11 135mm which wasn`t compatible with non FSU bodies as the RF coupling is too far back or something - there are loads of people using the 35mm J12 on a variety of non FSU bodies.

The J11 135 works just fine with the Bessa R, R2 and T. I've used mine regularly with them. What you may be thinking about, is using non FSU 135's such as the Canon, or Hektor with most FSU cameras, because these lenses have a sort of flat tang instead of a full circular cam, they can and will jam on the camera, using force will wreck the Zorki/Fed coupling cam.
AFIK the only FSU r/f cameras with a roller type cam which will work with these lenses are the Leningrad or the Droog.
My J12 will not fit any of my Bessas, the large protruding rear element fouls the shutter casing, and or the shutter. The 20mm Russar will not fit either for the same reason.
I've used my Jupiter11, which I bought in 1970, with Leica 111f;111g;
Canon7s; as well as the Bessas and my Fed2, and have had no coupling problems.
see att taken recently from the top of a 600ft hill in the centre of my City.

I wasn't as clear as I should have been. My fault. Sometimes I type faster than I think, especially when I'm supposed to be working. 🙂
The J12 isn't compatible with bessas. I assumed it wouldn't work with the R-D1 since it's so close to a bessa. Maybe the shutter arrangement is different?

The J11 works very well on a bessa.

Sorry once again for creating confusion.

My J-11 works fine with my M6TTL & M7.
