The Jupiter 12 is a very nice lens, certainly one of the better lenses from the FSU to my eyes.
I have had the best luck with the newer black lenses though most will tell you to get the older lenses. I would suggest getting it from a reputable seller in case of any problems.
Get one and an adaptor and it will work quite well on your M2.

The J-12, like what wlewisii and kmack have said, are good lenses. Get a LTM-39 to M adapter, mount lens and you have a very formidable combo for street photography. The 'white' (aluminium) may particularly look good with a chrome M2. My 1964 J-12 still shoots great.
To give you an idea how this combo will look like- roughly since camera shown is an M-3, with a black J-12. On top is the Russian turret finder; the M3 doesn't have framelines for 35mm

The Jupiter 12 is a quite a good lens which has been favorably compared with the Summaron. It also doesn't seem to have acquired the spotty reputation of the Jupiter-3 and Jupiter-9 FSU lenses.
I've had good luck with both the silver and black bodied lenses. I'd lean toward a black bodied one largely because the lubricants used on the silver ones often solidifies making the focus helix stiff.
You can get a dedicated FSU viewfinder for 35mm inexpensively, or if you envision getting a 28mm lens some day, the FSU turret finders offer both a 28mm and 35mm frame in the same unit.

I use the Jupiter 8 LTM, Jupiter 12 LTM I also have the I-10 collapsible and the I61 L/D lenses. They are used on my Leica IIIc and my FSU bodies. The photos from the J8 and J12 are clear and crisp and I am quite please with them. Oh and the lenses didn't empty my wallet either. Below is my IIIc with my Black 77 vintage J12 and Hellios finder

Its actually an M3. I got it together that way so it would look like my Zorki-6! For some reason it's the Zorki-6 which I find most "M"-like

And btw, the reverse (Leica lens on Zorki) also works. My Zorki-6 does resemble an M2 or M3

The FED collapsible can even sneak in as an Elmar on the IIIc!

Flashover/John, does the advance knob belong to a IIIc?
