Leica M3 that Krzys was selling, hope it makes it from down under in one piece
. Now I just need an adapter to use my lenses.

Welcome to the club
I hope you get your adapter before the body gets there. I would be super anxious to use the M3 as soon as I bought it

Cheers. I can't wait to get my Canonet from Mudman. The M3 goes in the post this morning. I remember when I first got my M2, I only had LTM lenses and no adapter. It was agony hah!

I'm trading in my Black Nikon F motordrive with KEH monday to help pay for the camera... should I just order an adapter early? Only leica lenses I own are the elmar f3.5, summar, and 90mm f4 elmar. Was planning on getting a 50mm adapter and the 90mm adapter, and I need a new meter so a Sekonic L328
Unless someone has an adapter they want to part with

what kind of adapter are you speaking of?

screwmount to m mount. I don't own any m mount lenses. I'm planning on picking up a leica one for the 90mm and a Voightlander for the 50mm (prices, the leica 90mm is cheap for some reason) But if you've got an extra adapter kicking around, I'll just use the preview lever to get the right frame lines for shooting.

If the preview lever is good for anything, that is previewing. I'd recommend that you get the correct adapters.

I shot a 50mm on my M2 with 35mm frameslines via preview for ages...

There are plenty of those very cheap on ebay.co.uk, from Hong Kong. I guess there is a quality difference somewhere, but for me, they work fine. I just today bought a few more. These guys deliver quite fast: there's a good change you will have the adapter way before the camera.

Well I've got a new meter on the way from KEH and a Leica 90mm adapter. They had the 90 for only $25, so I figured why not. I'll pick up the appropriate 50mm at some point. Can't wait for the M3. Stupid distance from Australia, hehe.

Check seller heavystar (also on eBay, same handle), he might have adapters. He's stateside, so shipping should be cheap and fast. Pretty sure that adapter is gonna beat the M3 to your doorstep.
And, have you checked the classifieds? And why not ask for an adapter in your signature here? Shows up with every post you ever put up here, lotsa exposure for free!

That's a good idea. I'm looking for a 50mm summicron too. Just sold my pentax digital, working on selling my Nikon F so I've got some money for lenses.

CLE - That was very fast. Didn't find a second adapter, but I think I'll be fine with just the 90mm one. I'm now the owner of a collapsible Summicron as well! Great people on this forum.

The meter and the adapter showed up today. The adapter is great - the meter is dead. Argh. KEH is shipping me another one, and this one is heading back to them.

The M3 is here too! Looks great, little chipping to the vulcanite where the base goes on and one scratch on the top plate. Other than that and a little brassing on the strap lugs, it looks amazing. Can't wait to try it out!

Mudman, I wish you will shoot a lot of stuff as nice as the photos in your Gallery with that camera! Enjoy it!

The first M is a special camera. I can't let go of mine even though its worn and only partially functioning. It's seen more use lately than the other.

Thanks. The viewfinder is crazy nice. Much better than one I had looked through before. I understand now what people mean by brilliant. There is no comparison for the rangefinder patch compared to my old iii. Wow, what an upgrade in body usability!
Edit: Forgot to add - I don't know how fast it is to load an M4 or later, but this thing is soo much easier than the iii. Nifty with the back popping open. Well, now I got to go out and shoot with it!

Sounds like common sense but the more you shoot and reload the easier it becomes. I actually prefer the M loading system as opposed to the swinging back loading system. I find it easier to walk briskly and load at the same time on my M3. On my Canon P I would stand still while loading because I was afraid I'd break the back off if it caught something such as my jacket and flexed too far.
