Just for fun:

A connection with unicorns...

Whatever is the next step up after LOL is what I did after I read that bit.

I think that is when whatever it is that you're drinking sprays out of your nose -- making orbs, should anyone photograph you then (Michael, Gabriel, Uriel, Metraton and Cthulhu).

innn-credible hey,

i find it amazing, bemusing, ludicrous etc; that in this modern day people (seemingly educated people) are still so easily led, apparently lack even the basics of analytical thinking

understandable; that people believe in all these 'paranormal' phenomena because research and stats show a large percentage of people (even though fully educated) dont acheive the later stages of intelligence that provides them with (among other things) the levels of analytical thinking. (as a side note, some uneducated people have higher levels of analytical intelligence than educated)

some people look for and want to be provided with answers, no matter how strange or impossible those answers are they are comfortable (or excited) with the idea that there is 'more to life' type thing. it can also give 'believers' a sense of autonomy from others (what they might see as the serious, unbending thinking people) and also can give a sense of unity, as there are always other people with 'strange occurrences' that are easily lead or willing to provide support for them

pleased, happy etc; because it makes life (or people) interesting and amusing hearing and seeing how peoples imaginations lead them to create or lead interesting lives..or inspires their art (in this case on RFF, photography)

sad because: the truth will set you free so to speak, generally people are better off when they understand the truth; people take advantage of other people that are susceptible or 'open minded' to such things ; these 'paranormal' type things often snowball to include many others ; sometimes leads to cults; it can often become harmful and damaging to people and those people close to them.

it seems lately here on RFF the 'paranormal' subjects are becoming more frequent, there is another thread going atm where people are hearing children's voices in the wind 😛 .

you only have to speak to a visually impaired people (also sound engineers for movies) to know that many sounds we hear everyday without our other senses to provide information can often be confused for the wrong thing; a gaggle of geese can sound like a gathering of people at a party, rain falling when the first drops hit the ground can sound like steak on the BBQ, Peacocks sound like a person calling for help, multiple peacocks sound like multiple people all calling for help...the list is endless

Yes, I used to work in a building that would practically talk to you at night when it cooled down. Several people quit because they said it was haunted. I think we should be allowed to keep those people as pets. I don't see how they can survive on their own. They need people to look out for them.

Chris: If you check a map, Findhorn is in Morayshire, Scotland and is a particularly lovely area from my understanding. Highlanders do need pursuits other than making and consuming eminently drinkkable whisky, chasing down their sheep (which, after whisky consumption can be both dangerous [for the sheep] and hilarious) and tossing effin'-huge logs about.

Slainte,

Earl

(OH, and I concur with PeterN ... personally I include the belief in an actual, physical resurrected man/god/spirit deity to be silliness, and I was born/raised in that tradition. YMMV.)

For those who are interested in such things:

A recent book as to why people believe in crap (quite funny in places)...
http://brucemhood.wordpress.com/about-supersense/

And the best book I have ever read on the subject (a bit more serious)...
http://www.amazon.com/How-Know-What-Isnt-Fallibility/dp/0029117062

But what fascinates me is the difference between true believers and con-artists. Do these lunatics really believe or are they just cashing in on the fact that there are so many stupid people in the world?

And in case anyone asks "what's the harm?" ...

And my personal favourite...
