Just got back back 3 rolls @ $.84 each

I got back today three rolls of 120 film from Walmart. I asked for developing only. The film came back in strips and in negative holders. The cost was $0.84 for each roll. I inspected the negatives on a light table with a loupe a few minutes ago. The details are amazing.

It is amazing that the cost is so low for 120 film developing.

Yes, I used the 3.5F, the 2.8D and the Tele on one afternoon from the tenth floor, overlooking Pesacola Beach at sunset.

Yes, this is the price when you mail it out in Walmart mailers. The negatives look very clean to me.


The cost of B&W developing and prints of 120 film at Sam's Club with their mailers is about $7. I have done this many times.

Yes, Michael, it was C-41.
I could take a roll of 120 E-6 film next weekend to test the waters there.

Yep, amazing deal. I find that their prices vary a bit. For instance, I've received a roll of 120 c41 back from $.84 and for $2. Same thing. On the same token, I have received back a roll of 220 slide film for $.84 also 🙂

Outstanding! Though I'm pretty leery of Walmart right now -- gave them my last roll of Kodachrome in mid-December and it's not back yet. Fuji says it was delivered right before Christmas but Walmart claims it wasn't. Not sure whom to believe. It isn't a pleasant experience going there, that's for sure, but if the slides show up, and they'll deal with 120/220, all is forgiven.

A few months back, as a test, I sent one roll of 120 color and one roll of 120 C41 b&w through Walmart to Fuji for develop only. I was quoted $1.84 per roll. When it came back two weeks later, the color was $1.84 and the b&w was $9.00!! The WM clerk called Fuji and was told "That's the way it is with B&W". Instead of running it with the other C41, they "sent it out" to a local "pro lab". In my experience, Walmart readily makes adjustments for this kind of error, but not this time. I was SOL. I can have 120 color processed nearby, in three days, for $5.50 roll. B&W, I do myself. OK, I'm thru now. 🙂

No. If your Walmart still has their film machines, they are 35mm only. Always were.

At these prices, shooting color and converting in Lightroom or Photoshop is cheaper & easier than wet B&W at home. On the other hand, wet B&W at home is faster. Like digital. Grinning.

Thanks for the heads up on the C-41 B&W. Bummer. I have a bunch of that film too.

I do the same with 120 negative film: .84 $ plus tax, developed and sleeved at Wmart. Have done it for nearly a year now ... A local lab then prints from the film via a Noritsu machine nicely ... For the film to come back takes about ten days, except before Xmas when it took 2 + weeks to get it back from Fuji who does their work.

My local photography shop charged a bit over $20 to ship out b&w 120 to their lab. I guess this is why they closed? 🙄 Guess I'm going to Wal-Mart.

I've tried 120 C-41 and E-6 with Walmart a few times before. C-41 tends to return sooner than E-6, a difference of about a week verses two weeks. The quality seems pretty good, as long as the instruction are clear on the send out form everything gets done correctly. Prices on the other hand seem to be picked out of a hat between $.84-$1.88.

The wait is what usually gets me, most of the time I send it off to Samy's for a quicker return. I tend to use Walmart for that stray roll of color 120 that's been hiding on a shelf, its been sitting for so long without me missing it I figure I can wait another week or two.

I've seen these threads on RFF before and I've always assumed this required walking in to Walmart, right?

Walk in, put in mailer, leave mailer there, wait, walk in another time to pick up developed film.

Can't go pick up mailers and mail them in and get them back at your address?
