i just ordered a purple snakeskin cover for my m3.

it needs to be special cut for the ds.

i already have a new black cover for back up, in case i hate the purple in person.

I kind of like the idea of something like that for my Canonet, but I don't believe in using exotic skins.

i think it's dyed leather or some kind of vinyl.

You will like that colour. Also the grip of the material is great.
It is definetly not vinyl, it is cow leather I think.
I am awaiting my order...

I contacted Aki about making a cover for my M2 using a material he has listed for other cameras, but not the M2. I'm still waiting for a reply.

Anyways, since it has to be cut for the DS, how much longer is it going to take to get your cover? Usually he ships within 24 hours of purchase, but those are the "off the shelf" covers.

i emailed him last night and there was a reply this morning. i answered and am now waiting for a paypal invoice to pay.
this cover was made for the m3 single stroke and the m2 also, i think.
my ds has the buddha ears.

i'm not in a hurry as i dread the actual work in stripping the camera first.

I have had a cover in the same material. It is embossed cowhide. I think he may do a real snakeskin ro special order but not his general kits.

Your former M2 had it, too.. lotta people who see it, like it, say it makes the camera look very vintage 😕

i imagine it may have variations also.

Maybe the color should be called "port." That is a very "red" purple.

I think that Aki's skins are embossed leather.

it looks good but i think it's original.

it actually looks fine except far a small missing piece.
