Well, it's not new, but I just got it just yesterday. I've been reading a lot on these forums about them and I thought I'd share some love 🙂
here's the beauty:
It looked great when I got it - just cleaned it some more (I didn't remove anything - I don't feel confident enough for that yet) and noticed that the light seals were already cleaned out by the previous owner.
I read somewhere that it doesn't always give problems when they're removed, and since winter in Belgium means heavy clouds anyway, I decided to test it ASAP - which meant an hour later 🙂
I scanned the processed film myself this morning, on my crappy HP-scanner (don't mind the dust and scratches) and here are some of the results:
Looks good, but about half the roll shows this 'artifact':
So there IS light leakage... I'm ordering the seal kit ASAP, but in the mean time I'll manage with electrical tape, I guess.
At first when I saw these cameras on the net, I was struck with the shere beauty of the design - I know a lot of people really dig the black GT/GTN's, but I really love the silver-black color scheme (although I really like what b1bmsgt does with his cameras as well). But using it, wow. So easy to focus, and the results are astounding - I read about them, but finding out in person is a whole new category! One thing I'll have to get used to is the fact that I always tend to twist the outer end of the lens barrel - probably because I'm so used to my Pentax DSLR with manual lenses... Kinda reminds me of using my Yashica TLR for the first time and having to compose the image in a mirrored viewfinder. I'll admit that still takes getting used to when it's been a while 🙂
See you around 🙂
