Good Morning All,
Yesterday I received my 35/2.5 Colour Skopar Classic from Stephen Gandy. The purchase was the product of a lot of thought and reflexion on my part.

I had first been thinking of the 28/1.9, but the price was just too steep for my blood. I decided on a 35 because my 'main' lens is a 50/1.5 and I used a 35 extensively with my Zorki 4 and really like what it brings to the mix. I briefly considered the 35/1.7, but even then, for me, the cost couldn't be justified for an extra stop of speed over the 35/2.5. This is especially because I need to put my pennies away to get a Les Paul and an amp 😀

Anyhow, the first thing which struck me was the size! I cannot believe that a lens could be so small! It cannot be half the size of my 50/1.5. The M rear lens-cap is wider than the lens!!! Now I understand why there's a focusing lever; you couldn't focus it otherwise. As with the 50/1.5, the chrome finish is gorgeous, and the focus and aperture are beautifully smooth.

I'm looking forward to shooting and souping my first rolls. I'm going to be very careful to take comparison shots from the same point in space so I can get a better feel for the perspective of this lens compared with the 50/1.5 and J8 which I already have.

I think you'll be very happy. That's one of my favorite lenses, for all of the reasons mentioned here. I just recently picked up the 28mm 3.5 CSC, and it's another winner. Even more compact than the 35, with great sharpness and contrast.
