Hello everyone.

I've started to develop film again, which was on my list of stuff to do in 2008, so I'm feeling good. 🙂

However, I can't remember which chemicals you dump and which you keep. I think you keep Stop and fixer, but I've read that old school pro's dump everything after each run, especially fixer as the silver gets stuck and can add marks to the next film.

What do you lot do?

Take care.

I hadn't heard of dumping all of it after each use. Very expensive.

I know that some film devs may be multi-use. My dev is ID11 (D76), which is a one shot dev. I use this to do at least two films in one session and regularly 4 for each "1 film" quantity. The stop and fix stay in use for maybe 8-10 sessions.
It's easy to see when the stop is nearing the end of its working life as it changes colour (indicator stop), the fix is changes when it fails to fix in a reasonable time.

Fix can be kept; you can/should use hypo-check to make sure your hypo/fix is good. Stop bath should be dumped after use; its very diluted: 1-16.

Hypo clearer I also dump after every use.

Developer is harder; many you can keep. However, I use Rodinal, D-76 1-1 and 1-3, Microdrol X 1-3 and dump; then I do not have replenish them or keep a chart on how many rolls I've developed.

I dump everything after one session use. HC-110(h) is low cost. So are the others. Fixer is the 'non-green' chemical, I would assume, so is hypo clear. In the USA we are not suppose to put them in the drains. Fixer will also over time corrode your plumbing. But I recycle the whole lot, though.
