I just picked up a late-production (1996 serial) Kiev-60 in great shape after wanting one for many years. However, while everything else works and the shutter speeds are accurate, the advance lever will not lock after winding on and cocking the shutter, ie, once the shutter is cocked, I can keep winding and winding. This has caused me to lose a couple frames, as I'm in the habit of pushing the lever with my thumb to check that the shutter is cocked before each shot.

Does anyone have the expertise or experience to know how to fix this, or at least point to which components are involved in the advance lever interlock? I have a good bit of experience inside mechanical cameras, I'm not worried about breaking it, I just don't know this particular mechanism.

Thanks in advance for any insights y'all can share.

See the first post in this thread:

Someone later in that thread posted that the link is dead, but I just tried it and did get a 31mb file.

The format is "djvu" and I suspect the manual is in Russian or Ukranian but if you can sort that out, you'll at least have some drawings/diagrams to help.

EDIT: just found a program "WinDJview" that will open the file and it is pretty good scans of the manual.

I found a copy of the repair manual referenced, and one of the diagrams pointed the way to the problem.

I will be sharing my original research and photos shortly, but the short version is there's a pawl in the advance mechanism that's supposed to engage a ratchet wheel that has an eccentric screw that limits its travel, and it was being stopped before engaging the teeth on the wheel.
Adjusting the eccentric fixed it.
