I'm no expert on Voigtlanders but surely they never made one even resembling a Kiev? That being so, what is the seller hoping to achieve? Fake Leicas and Contaxes I can understand the motive for but this is puzzling!

The early and odd among these pastiche cameras must often have been genuine naive user mods - patched up with some logo by some kid dreaming of a more high end camera. I've seen plenty of chain brand cameras clumsily spiced up with Canon and Nikon stickers or face plates even in rich complacent Germany, and the Soviet population will inevitably have been even more desperate to get a brand name camera...

Yes. Especially in the SU during the "iron curtain" times. Anything "foreign", even from the other "socialist camp" countries, not to mention USA, GB , Germany etc. was considered a luxury and "prestigious". I still remember my neighbor's Zaporozhets (a POS budget car) with Mercedes badge on it🙂
