Killing Bill

I am so glad someone went looking for it. 😉

Hopefully in the search, you also came across the 4 or 5 posts that Jorge made about posting since. Perhaps you would like to quote those as well? 🙄

After all, we keep trying to DODGE reality and refuse to BURN in our hearts the knowledge that film is dead.

It ain't dead, but it is a dwindling resource. You have to take Bill's dissertation with a grain of salt. You need to separate Bill's evangelism from his data. Then evaluate the data yourself. Without being long winded, use film while you can and be prepared to try films other than Fuji and Kodak.

Walter Sobchak, it's been bothering me for months, Bill reminded me of someone.
Walter Sobchak, The Big Lebowski.

I thoroughly recommend a book: 'Cocaine Nights' by J G Ballard.

It's a novel set in Spain about a small community of rich bored foreign retirees. The resort manager indulges in some small scale crime which brings the community alive.

Some people here fulfill the same function as that resort manager.

Sadly, it all goes too far and one bystander blames himself for the tragic consequences.

I don't know about Bill's supporters and enemies here.
To me, he was a person expressing his views.
If he could be very respectful to me in all his communications, then this shows me that he can't be "that bad" as he is made by some.
There is no need to be confrontational, and I hope that we can all accept differences between people.

Raid

The pettiness of some here - that can't just let it go even after he's been gone. Is why RFF is not what it used to be. Sure he was abrasive, but some here just can't let their personal vendetta lie. It's been fun yall, at least the first year of it was. Enjoy what you've made of the place.

As Peter said "Well said, Raid". In fact, insert any contraversial name and it is equally well said in my experience. There are no confrontations or vendettas on my end!

Now I mean it... I'll never speak another syllable on this topic! I like everyone, and want to be liked by everyone!!
