Kodak considering selling film business: The Times

Funny, I just sent an email to Kodak asking them if they still made film, since it's not apparent from the web site.

Question: I am having a hard time finding film via your web site.
The main home page does not have the word film on any link or pull down
menu. (www.kodak.com in the united states)
Has camera film been discontinued by Kodak? If not, why is there no
mention of film anywhere on the main home page, not even in any of the
sub menus?
When I google I can find pages about film, but I worry they may be old
pages, like the ones for the slide projectors.
I hope kodak plans to continue film production, please!?

I just read the article. I do not think that Kodak stated that they were not making money selling film. They just were not making as HIGH a profit as they wanted. If you follow corporate earnings especially in the USA the trend has not been about profits but increasing the profits margin each year and the salaries of executives. Digital cameras outdate quickly (remember pre-obsolescence of the 1950/60). They are not inexpensive and they need computers and printers and programs. Using digital is not really, in my opinion, easier or less expensive. Maybe a smaller company will run the film manufacture and sell over the internet. There is still a great demand for film.
 
My favorite analogy is Vacuum Tubes/Valves for audio gear. I have an easier time now obtaining quality tubes for less money (adjusted for inflation) than I did back in the early 1970s.. But back then you could just go into most drug stores or similar and there was a tube tester machine with cabinets of tubes in it.. Now you must order them on the internet...
