Kodak Elite Chrome Discontinued

I usually buy TMX 120 in the 5-roll pro-packs, anyway. Less messy packaging to get rid of. Tri-X 120 usually comes in 10-roll bricks, lots of messy packaging to get rid of.
 
Sorry for the confusion guys! I edited the post a few minutes after I wrote the thing.

Our wholesaler also told us that elite chrome is to be discontinued? Any truth to this?

Well, my memory isn't what it used to be - maybe it never was what it used to be - but I seem to remember buying bricks of 20 rolls of 35mm Tri-X back in the mid to late 70's, and in to the 80's as well, from a couple of pro shops in my area. As a matter of fact I was surprised the last time I bought a "brick" that it only had 10 rolls in it. But then again, I might be wrong - it's happened before.

The 135 Pro Packs I remember had 50 (or was it a hundred?) films in canisters, in a outer box styled like a huge single-film box. But that was more of a promotional gag, bricks of fifty or a hundred regular single-box films mostly were cheaper.

For what its worth, I always thought it odd that there is no price incentive for buying propacks, at least from the large online sellers. Do that math and 5x the price of one roll is usually identical to the price of a propack, convenient for experimenting with different films, at least.

That's all very well but but for a product that struggles to maintain profitability for it's manufacturer already it's not the smartest move IMO.

And who's to say when they suddenly say 'no loose rolls only pro packs' it's not because it's all they have left because they shut the line down quietly a few months ago and aren't letting on yet? I read this particular move as 'this film is on the way out but we'll announce that fact when we're good and ready!'

The colour emulsions I couldn't care less about because to me those cheaper Kodak colour films look like bad digital!

What? I have five Leicas, three MF cameras and an undisclosed number of SLRs to feed. This is basic survival!;)

mine too. hell, if selling only in bundle packages means they can remain viable, then I'm all for it. Don't most of us usually buy in brick/bulk quantities, anyway? I know that's how I've been doing it for a while, typically either from B&H or freestyle.....

I remember our esteemed and very knowledgable member Marty (freakscene) advising against keeping powdered chemistry in the freezer!
 
Damn, this messes me up.

My most used films are Kodak Gold 200 and Max 400 in 4 packs...

The 4 packs were usually between $8 and $12 at the typical drugstores where single rolls cost $5 to $7.

Often when they had a sale, a whole 4 pack was the price of a single roll.

We have loads of students coming in and buying single rolls of Portra 400 in 120 for holgas/Dianas. . They can't afford pro packs and usually shoot one roll at a time.
