I thought about adding on to the general Signet 35 threads to ask my question but it's a little more specific.

So I cleaned up my Signet's rangefinder/viewfinder windows and dabbed some solvent on the shutter mechanism (it was lagging) and I'm ready to shoot. One question about filters though. I have series V filters for it. However, I was wondering if any filter manufacturers make a UV filter small enough to screw onto the lens. It has the threads, I'm just not certain about the size. The Ektar lens doesn't seem to have much in terms of coating. I know as to whether or not a UV filter is useful is debatable. My understanding is older lenses lack modern coatings (duh) and modern coatings help against flare and promote contrast. Agree? I was hoping Marumi or B+W would have what I need.

While your statment, as it stands, it true it is also true that adding a filter of any type will always increase flare. The less efficient a lens' coating are the more flare will be increased by adding a filter.

The Signet 35 has 26.5mm filter threads. I have a couple of Walz threaded filters in this size and two Ednalite slip-on filters also. I'm not sure any filters this size are in current production.

I have a hood to help both contrast and flare. Maybe I don't need a filter. I'll do some more research.

Thanks for the thread size Spavinaw.
