Just picked this lens up from david murphy . The lens came without caps and i have no idea what the filter thread is. Anyone have this lens and like to share? It's certainly not 39mm since my 40.5 mm step up ring is too small. Also my 48mm step up ring is too large so i'am guessing a inbetween size??
Reason for asking is i went through the buy and throw away routine with a LF computar a while back. Ended up with about 6 lens caps b/w 67 and 77mm untill i found the right one.

its probably 46mm. I have one in the mail, so not sure yet. The hood on the 36/1.8 is 46mm for sure, there's a thread on Komuras in the Leica Screwmount copy forum with a picture in it.

Well it's certainly NOT 43mm. I just got my 43-52mm step up ring today and it's too small. Well on to ebay to look for 44mm and 45mm rings

Keep in mind older lenses sometimes have a different pitch.

It takes B+W E43, ie 0.75 pitch.

Mine takes 43mm filters. B+W, old Nikon, old Minolta, and others -- they all fit fine. Could the filter ring on your lens be damaged?

No it's not. Really strange. Is there any chance you could post a pic of the front of the lens? I've tried to find 44mm filters (or adapter rings) and can't find any.

Pitch of filter is "how fine the filter thread is". Current 43mm (B+W, etc) has pitch 0.75, ie the threads are further apart.Ok i believe you. Is there any difference b/w the B+W E43 and regular 43mm filters? The pitch simply means how far it'll screw down right? I don't really feel like paying $50 for a filter when i already have several B+W and nikon filters in 52mm that just need a step up ring.
Nikkor50f1.4LTM & Leica Lux50mm(E43) takes filter with 0.5 pitch. I have tried a LeicaE43 (0.5 pitch)UV/IR on this Komura lens, it didn't work.
How come your 43to52 step-up ring didn't work? You said it's too small. Even if the pitch is wrong, it should still go in but maybe not all the way. Unless, you have a RARE one that takes 44 or 45mm filter.
That's the reason why I asked you to post photos of your lens.
