Konica Auto S

Can anybody tell me how to take off the top cover on a Konica Auto S, apart from the screw under the film rewind lever I cant see where any other screws are. I'm sure there is some hidden thing around the film wind on lever, but it's not obvious.
any help appreciated and any other tips in doing the job. I'm attempting to get to the apperture blades as they are sticking.

Hi Peter. You don't need to remove the top to get to the aperture blades. You will need to make a friction tool to bear on the inscribed ring around the front element. I used a plastic bottle (a Zero 200ml Weeding Wand Refill) which was the perfect size, and glued a disk of old bicycle tube rubber onto the base. My lens was very tight and I had to perservere. The entire front cell should screw out giving access to the blades. These are fairly complex cameras, but are worth the effort. The side benefit is you can kill your weeds as well. 🙂

I should also mention that there are a couple of useful threads on the "The Classic Camera Repair Forum" web site. You will have to register, which is free. Then do a search "Konica Auto S" in quotes as shown and you will get about three pages of hits. Most are for S2's which are useful and a couple relating to the S. Good luck

Thanks for the info Howard, although I still need to take the top off to find a peice of plasic that has come adrift in the top case.

You need to remove the top of the wind lever with a friction tool. Take of the lever and underneath there is a nut to unscrew. You should be able to lift the top then. Good diagram here: http://www.kyphoto.com/classics/images/konicarepair4.jpg

Thanks for the info, excuse my lack of knowledge with the camera, but when you say use a friction tool on the lever just what are you applying it to (the top of the lever?) and do you need to hold anything when doing this. I have checked the diagram you gave me the link to (thanks) but i can't tell how it was removed from it.

What looks like the "cap" on top of the wind lever is actually a very large headed screw. You may need to hold the wind lever against the body to stop it turning as you loosen it. I use a soft lens bung for such jobs but anything soft with a reasonable amout of friction will do like an eraser.
