Hi Everybody, I just recieved a beautifull black Konica Hexar AF via Ebay. It looks to be in great condition. I plan to use it for street photography along with my Bessa R. How easy would it be for me to get 1) a lens cap -- would any 46mm lens cap fit? 2) a 46 Neutral Density filter -- should I keep this filter on the lens at all times like a UV? and 3) a good quality and long strap for it -- is there any special one specifically made for the Hexar?

I also purchased the manual for it but it hasn't arrived yet. Any advice and/or opinions on this camera would be greatly appreciated. :D :)

Hi,

congratulations. the Hexar AF is a great camera.
Every 46mm snap-on cap will fit. If you do not need a filter I would not use one. If you really need a filter on bright days using high sensitive film do not forget to adapt the ISO number accordingly. Light is not measured through the lens with the Hexar AF. In the beginning I often forgot to change ISO... Concerning the strap I do not have any advice since I do not use one.

Cheers

Congrats, Ming. I am also a proud new owner and just ordered my second one :)

I found this site to be very informative:

1) I recommend a standard snap-on 46mm lens cap in particular when you use a filter. The original cap is pretty but falls off easily.
2) Depends on what film you use and at what time of day you shoot. I sometimes use a Hoya MC ND4 filter that I got from ebay.
3) Cann't say. The strap lugs are quite small so it will be hard to fit anything else in there. I decided to use the original strap, although I don't like it much.

You can find my first results here:

Best,

Roland.

I assume you mean UV filter, not ND filter. And yes, just keep the filter (if it is multicoated) on the lens.

I use a sony 46mm lens cap it is from the S85 camera and has a tie string attatched so i never lose it, i can also highly recommend Luigi's deluxe strap
