I can't find one at a good price. Everywhere I look it seems that they're either in bad condition (like the one (!) on Ebay right now) or MINTY!!!!one.

Is anyone else having this trouble? Is it really that rare? I sold a couple of things and I'll have some money burning a hole in my Paypal account...figured I'd go looking.

Are you referring to the Canon 100/3.5? I have a nice example of the 2nd version (http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/camera/lens/s/data/s_100_35v2.html) that I can sell you for relatively cheap. Email/message me if you're interested.

And...er...can I see some photos with this lens? I know that people have posted some before, but I'm curious again. I know I'll love it.

Oh, and one more thing. How does the 100/4 compare with the 100/3.5? Is the 100/2 worth saving up for over either of them?

While I don't have the 100/2 in LTM, I do have one in the R (Canonflex) mount (same optics). This lens is absolutely superb and is my favorite portrait lens. Wide-open it's sharp as a tack with ever-so-smooth OOF background.

If you're interested, there's a guy selling a 100/2 for $475.00 on LUG. PM me for his name.

I'll be getting some more money coming in within the next few weeks. I have to get the enlarger from someone, but then I may look at my options. Thanks, guys. 🙂

The 100/2 is pretty super performance-wise, but don't forget that it's also a lot bigger and heavier than the 3.5. You're trading mobility vs. maximum aperture -- my guess is that unless you often need to shoot at fast shutter speeds in dimly-lit places, mobility would be a better choice.

For a while there were a decent number of them and they were selling pretty cheaply. Lately I haven't been able to find one a a decent price. They are going for almost double what they were a couple of months ago.

The 100/2 is a superb lens, but as jlw points out, it is 1 big mother* of a lens & you pay the price in mass for the extra speed. In contrast, all the versions of the 100/3.5 are small & light enough to carry in your pants pocket.
