Gone one more time through this thread. It's interesting your choice for B&W which works very well. Personally I would associate the idea of the beach with sea and sun which my mind translates in color. The blue sky, the emerald hues of the sea...
But your work demonstrates that mine is only a pre concept, a stereotype. And not true.
Without seeing your work I would have not thought about this, Thanks!

thanks for your comment Robert, you're welcome! There is a tradition in Australia of high contrast bw beach imagery - the best known is Max Dupain's iconic picture The Sunbaker, taken in 1937.
I have more to add to this thread over the next few days.

Robert,
George Caddy was a contemporary of Max Dupain, who was also taking Sydney beach photographs in the 1930's-1940s - see this gallery of photos taken in the late 1930s-1940s at Bondi beach with a Voigtlander Bergheil plate camera with a wire frame viewfinder, flashlight attachment and roll-film back, producing 6x6 negatives.
A fascinating bit of Aussie beach culture.

Lynn,
You have been busy!!!
It is great to see such a volume of consistent images like this. Thank you for posting and thank you for spending so much time with one of my favorite Leicas!
I must say, I miss my IIIc but it is being used in a much better way nowadays.
We have a slow weekend coming up so I will go back through this thread and pick my favorite three!

Superb photographs Lynn. And as a beach resident (Bondi), I must say you have caught the mood beautifully. Tim
