Last roll of Neopan 1600

I think the first 3 shots are with CV Heliar 75/1.8, the last three with Nokton 40/1.4
I use a Bessa R2M; Neopan 1600; Xtol 1:2 for 8.5min. Or, rather, Fomadon Excel version of Xtol, but it is apparently the same thing.

I have only shot one roll & your's came out better than mine did. I love that 3rd shot. I have 3 rolls left but I can't remember what developer I used, prob. D76. Anyway enough of me. I think your shots look nice. I love the childs expression. I love that CV75. I hope one day to grab the LTM version for my Bessa R.

It is a shame and I shot my last rolls about 6 months ago. now I use Tri X for 200-640 and Tmax 3200 for 800 and up and have not looked back!

I know Chris Crawford loves Tmax 3200 at 1600 with Tmax dev, but I am very much a fan of it with Xtol 1+1 at 800/1000 for a more normal less-pushed film look. You'll be surprised.... I have never used it with Tmax, but think this would be a great combo for very punch highlights and mids under very flat low contrast interior conditions. For outdoor used in mixed light, Xtol is great and the grain remarkably fine.

I have just 10 rolls left and I'm guarding them carefully.

Are you worried about cat burglars 😉

I blatted away all but the last of my Neopan 120 in a Holga over the last few days. I have five rolls left and intend to shoot them shortly before my TriX arrives. It felt like sacrilege for about a nanosecond... but the negs look great! Now that was an amazing film that had no peer.

Neopan 1600 was great, but the more I use TriX and Tmax, the less I miss it.

You can still get Neopan 1600 from some shops in the UK, it's no more than 3-4 weeks since I ordered and received 50 rolls of Neopan 1600. They are currently cryo-sleeping in my deep freezer.
(exp date is 07 2012).

But yes, Fuji has ended the production on it.

Stupid company 😛 (but I love their films and will keep buying until there is no more Fuji to be found anywhere).

I got 3 rolls left. No idea what's the best way to use them.

OK, the best way is to shoot nude in dark night, but unfortunately that's not an available option for me.

Still got around 20 in my fridge, expiry 7/12 (I guess this is the last batch that Fuji produced)..... will most probably take some of them for my trip to Bangkok in July..... 🙂

Been looking hi and lo to restock, but the one that I found, the price is not to my liking.

Yep, they are pretty pricey, I think they were around £7 per film(!) where I bought it from. But I got hold of 50 (now down to 49 😛), so I am very pleased.

Freezer != fridge

The film speed will be reduced while frozen as well, but from the threads I've come across on the subject, you can easily shoot 4-5 year old Neopan 1600 as normal, if it has been deep frozen the whole time.

Just send me a PM if you are interested in a couple of webshops for Neopan 1600 in the UK with international shipping. =)

I have 2 rolls of Neopan 1600 to develop and 4 left to shoot, one will be loaded in to a camera in the morning.

yeah, my remaining rolls of neopan have not aged well. The last couple of rolls I've shot at EI640.

That was a nice shot.
What do you develop the film in?

Looked to be pretty grainy when I looked at the full-size photos on flickr, but that may also be the scanning procedure.

Tonality looks good though, how much past the exp. date were you and how was the film stored?

Nice work.

I have just one roll remaining in my freezer. Can't bear to pull it out deep freeze. I also have two rolls of Pan-X that were never frozen and likely are fogged beyond useability.
