Brandt varied his printing very greatly over his career. In some cases, he would drastically change how he printed the same negative over time, sometimes confessing he could not stand the earlier versions. So, don't expect a "consistent" look.

I agree with you. I was having a more critical look at the bad prints with the intention of seeing if i could return it for a better copy. I was looking online for comparative examples of some of the prints and found that the online ones from MOMA look the same as the ones in the book, so I now accept that the book prints are accurate reproductions of the originals. An example of what I'm on about is page 65 "Billingsgate Porter". The print has an overall greyish look, low contrast, weak blacks. An online search shows some examples with good blacks however the MOMA website version looks the same as the book.

one of the first in color photography, his first book "122 colour photographs" from 1948 is now available in a new print from errata editions. check him out and be surprised:)
 
salgado genesis. i'm a big salgado fan but i'm disappointed by the formatting. the book is taller than it is wide, so almost all (probably 80%+) of the otherwise beautiful shots (many of which are panoramic landscapes) are across the fold. and while there are a good number of fold out sheets, they are all used to display 6+ small images, rather than a single image. iirc not a single one of the fold outs is used to show a single image where the effect of the fold would be minimized.

ETA: just leafed through salgado workers and noticed that it is formatted similarly. to me it's less noticeable in people or portrait images than in sweeping landscapes.

Park/Sleep is the latest in the 'Tal UF Tal Ab' and 'You Would' series, which is a kind of random photo diary that you'll probably either love or loathe (not many photographers could get away with this!). Valencia 1952 is part of the series of books that show the early photos, including Peru, Paris and London/Wales.
 
I had a personal delivery of a recently purchased copy of "Johsel Namkung • A Retrospective" by Dick Busher, owner of Cosgrove Editions, the publisher. Unbelievably terrific book. I picked up the slipcase edition (http://johselnamkung.net/a-retrospective/), primarily because it has a cover image of the 20"x25" print that I purchased from Dick in 2006. Johsel died near the end of July and will be sorely missed. He was a great landscape photographer and had a very interesting life.

I like a lot photographs by Bernard Plossu, there are very lyric. But I just ordered 'Wonderland' by Jason Eskenazi and can't wait for it :)
