i noticed on the X-E1 version 2 firmware, the AF was faster but it was hunting and racking back and forwards, but in total faster than before. is the new FW inducing a similar behaviour on the X100?

ive tried two different cards, same thing. i formatted each card before trying. not sure what i'm doing wrong. do i need to download 1.3 separately? if so, i cant find it on the fuji site....

Make sure the file is called FPUPDATE.DAT
If it is, and it still isn't working, I'm baffled because you are supposed to be able to go straight from 1.21 to 2

Make sure u do not have a previous copy of the fw update file in your download folder.. The new file will automatically be renamed upon completion of the download...usually adding a number to the name of the file like -1.
The old file is what u have been copying to your sd card, give the error. Look in your download folder of your computer. Delete the old file and look for the newest ".dat" type file for Fuji and rename it to what it should be.
Hope that helps..
Gary
Ps.. Oops looks like FA limited beat me to answer.

Great! I checked the AF performance only in a low light and it is much better. Not to mention a closer focusing distance - no need to turn the macro mode on any more - only if you photograph bugs, which I do extremely rarely
. I think Fuji has set a long term goal and treats it's customers the way it should be done. Cutting the x100s branch in a short term for possibly so much more in a long term.

I'm a Mac user and downloading the firmware was a breeze. It certainly seems to autofocus faster, but I have to go shooting asap to confirm everything. Gotta congratulate Fuji for upgrading what is basically an older model. Excellent service and it prompts me to seek other products from Fuji if they look after their customers like this...TW

just tried it really surprised at the speed improvement. even in low light the ability to lock seems better. and it is not hunting like i felt the X-E1 2.0 was doing either. and the MF dial works as it should now focus peaking is a nice bonusf or sure. no Auto ISO shortcut but really glad i haven't sold the camera.

I've been happily surprised by this latest update. I thought it would never come and could be some kind of a hoax...
After a post update trial:
Much faster autofocus and start up time, and much improved autofocus in darker conditions. It needs to be really dark for the red box to show up.
So this camera is even more pleasant and addictive to use.
Noticed focus creep in manual mode as many others but I don't bother as I never use it. For Manual everything I use M2
