Leaving for Roatan (Caribbean), what am I forgetting?

I buy my cameras to use, not worry about them.

The tripod is a travel type that doesn't take up much room at all, I would rather have then not, the sunsets where I am staying are gorgeous.

Not worried about having fun, been to this place several times. Have been going there for 3 years and my parents have been there for a month already.
Seconded. But we all have different definitions of 'fun'. For me, it doesn't include piddling around with snapshot cameras.

Cheers,

R.

Second day here, it'd been windy and overcast, so no diving today. Just gonna walk around and do the tourist thing. Will hopefully have lots of pics to post when I return

You are missing a canon 5d mkIII along with underwater housing, 8-14mm L lens, strobes, focus lights, scuba tank, wetsuit, bcd, regulator... etc.

The diving in Roatan is really amazing. I shot my first underwater shots in Utila, Honduras (a smaller island further south). Try underwater photography... it is more addictive than heroin.

I have a g12 with Ikelite housing and strobe. I also use my gopro with this set up. My time diving in Roatan will be spent between lion fishing and taking underwater pictures. My son is just completing his open water so there will be plenty if pics to follow. I am considering upgrading my underwater rig, but an dslr, lenses, nd housing is worth a small fortune.
And of course I also have all of my dive gears with me, hehe. Makes it hard to travel light though.

One of the few things I learned in my time taking photographs is that a couple of pieces of familiar gear yield much better results than a bunch of unfamiliar gear.

Returned from Roatan on Saturday, haven't yet had a chance to develop any of my films as of yet. May try to do some color tonight.
I think the photo part of my trip was fairly successful, but I will know for sure once the films are developed. I only did end up using 10 films, so I guess I did over pack in that regard.
I tried to make sure that I had the film loaded was the one I wanted to use for the type of day we had planned, and think it worked out fairly well. I did discover that the GXR is a fairly capable camera even in fairly low light w/ the S10 kit attached, I used that a fair amount after the sun went down.

"I'm sure I'm forgetting something... camera, check... lenses, check... film, check... I'm sure there's something I'm missing... hmmm... Honey, did you-- wait... where's my wife???" 😀
